To Travels and Trunks

To Travels and Trunks
and kick ass stamps

I am super stoked about the uncharacteristic split-second decision that I just made. I WILL travel by freighter. I have been mulling over the significance of the speed of travel for some time now. The extended time that it took to travel to a destination in relatively recent history made the destination itself so much more significant. Our world is shrinking. I, for one, am losing site of how large our world really is.

I'm sure my image of traveling via ship to "the new world" is disgustingly over romanticized. Thankfully I won't be in for an unwelcome shock. Travel by freighter looks a like a practical middle ground between the malnurishment of the desperate months-long boat travels of yesteryear and the unappealing ride of overly 'entertaining' cruise ships. Base(bicycle)ment

Base(bicycle)ment
Bicycle in Basement (get it?)

No, probably not. Um, I need to get my bucycle out of the basement. Maybe tomorrow...always tomorrow... I don't know what this piece buy Francesco Franchi says, but I'm pretty sure that bicycles are everywhere. And that's pretty cool! I love info graphics. And it turns out that I particularly love this guys work (if you read his flickr profile, it very clearly states "I'm Male.")

And some of this:

Designers on Twitter

"..While it’s fun to follow hundreds of interesting-sounding Twitterers, it can also quickly become overwhelming. Suddenly you have this barrage of tweets to sift through, and before you know it two hours have gone by. That’s why we’ve put together a list of our 50 or so favorite design-related Tweeters...".

Agreed, its a bit overwhelming. Actually...it seems that its super overwhelming. Could NPR and Huffington Post not post so much? While I'm very appreciative Grain Edits attempt at compressing the list of interesting design tweeters down to 50. I kinda' want to follow them all. Alas, even 50 is overwhelming. I'll keep an eye on their well formed list though and perhaps I'll be able to narrow it down to a select 25.

SO SEXY!

So Sexy!
These are beautiful.

Life goal? Yes please. I would like to run a letterpress studio. If you feel any inclination to sponsor the creation of a kick ass letterpress studio...shoot me an email. I'm sure it would be incredibly lucrative...right? millions I think, maybe billions...we could run the studio off of biomass energy and only print with soy based inks on papers that have a maximum post consumer content (we'll ignore the petroleum content in the ink and pretend like we won't have nasty waste material to dispose of.)

Yeah, and then we could get stimulous money, right? Hey, maybe Mr. B (OBAMA) can obtain partial ownership in my company. We could make business cards for the white house! and....and maybe we could make their Christmas cards!

Gotta walk the talk. They better be using 100% recycled paper in their damn copy machines. That's all I'm saying. Walk the talk Mr. B, and your business cards are on the house...that is, assuming you are a partial owner and have invested stimulus money in my business. Oh, and does your dog need business cards?

This is Cassidy

THIS IS CASSIDY
Cassidy is getting over a rather invasive parasite.

Cassidy is 11.
Cassidy likes to flop around in the grass at 7:30 in the morning.
Sometimes Cassidy plays dead.
Right now, Cassidy is playing dead.
Cassidy likes his frisbee.
At 7:30 in the morning, he likes to flop around and play dead on top of his frisbee.
