It really is Arctic Blast 2009. Four or five blocks of Estacada flooded last night. We had over 4 inches of rain last night, followed by 2-6 inches of snow. The creek that runs through town got backed up at one of the bridges and created a small river running on the road between the high school and the junior high. The Library, which is located next to the pond that is formed as the creek runs into the public water system, flooded. It was built two years ago and got a foot of water throughout the whole thing, 3 to 8 inches of mud, and a slew of volunteers mucking it up. Every book on the bottom shelves will have to be thrown away, the carpet torn out.
YUCK!
On our street, the sewers were backed up and the man-hole down the street started pushing water out the top. A natural urban spring.

That's BANANAS! The manhole photos are nutty, bet you wish you had my Hunter wellingtons.
ReplyDeleteI was walking through six inches of mud with my snow boots on, and then washed them off with the sewer water. ew! yes. I need some proper galosh's.
